Evening Sun - written by Steve Carlson

I watched the bullets fly from far away
And only dreamed that I had died
And all the children that had been at play
Were laid in dozens side by side

I saw a young man in the evening sun,
Whisper to a smoking gun and leave his wounds on everyone
As the day went away

I saw the bankers in the city streets
All waving dollars in their hands
They laid their money at the children’s feet
And gave the war command

I saw a mother in the evening sun
Grieving for her murdered one, and leaving tears on everyone
As the day went away

I saw a dragon in the evening sun
Breathing fire and eating young and leaving fear on everyone
As the night came to stay
